Omer Klein & Sebastian Studnitzky

Pianist Omer Klein and trumpeter Sebastian Studnitzky need no introduction. They are both internationally recognized composers and band leaders who have been creating their very own sound worlds for years. They've known and appreciated each other's work for a long time, but it wasn't until the summer of 2021 that they met for the first time, in what would become a pivotal moment. "Almost by coincidence, we were booked for a duo concert in Usingen, not far from my hometown of Frankfurt, and I had the feeling that it was going to be something special," says Klein. Studnitzky affirms: "From the first note it was clear that there were no boundaries between us and the music. We were fearless together", and Klein adds: "The music flowed so effortlessly that at times we almost had to laugh, and we seemed to be able to, the audience to share every little nuance." The two decided to further develop their newly formed duo and thus their current program was born. The material includes some compositions by Klein, some by Studnitzky and covers of pieces by their favorite artists: Monk, Stevie Wonder, Jobim. "It's that kind of moment where the how is more important than the what," says Studnitzky, "the songs are there to give us a starting point. We immediately plunge into the unknown with them, and that's a lot of fun ".

Klein summarizes: "It's that tightrope, that risk-taking, that sense of discovery that makes it worthwhile for an artist to go on stage and for the people to listen to. It's exciting to be a part of something like that."
